News & UpdatesThe EMEA Championships in London delivered high-stakes drama as World Championship qualifying spots were on the line. In ELITE 15 MEN, Tomas Tvrdik secured his spot with a third-place finish in 53:18.62. In ELITE 15 DOUBLES MEN, Luke Greer and Harry Thompson claimed third in 48:42.74 to punch their ticket to Stockholm. The women's side saw significant movement: Seka Arning qualified for ELITE 15 WOMEN after a one-minute penalty was assessed to Elli Stenfors, who had initially qualified via a roll-down, for a collision during the Wall Balls. In ELITE 15 DOUBLES WOMEN, a late penalty for a corner-cutting infraction on the Sled Pull saw the original winners, Charlie Searle and Lauren Stockley, drop down, elevating Sinéad Bent and Lucy Procter to EMEA champions and pushing Ida Mathilde Steensgaard and Elli Stenfors into the qualifying position. History was made in London as new world records were set. Hidde Weersma shattered the PRO MEN world record with a time of 52:42, eclipsing the previous mark of 53:15. Meanwhile, Tim Wenisch and Alexander Roncevic set a new world record in PRO DOUBLES MEN with a blistering 47:40, besting the previous record of 48:31. You can see the updated PRO MEN rankings and PRO DOUBLES MEN rankings on our site. HYROX has announced an immediate change to the qualification process for the 2026 World Championships in Stockholm. The new 'Initial Offers Only' system dictates that only the highest-ranked athlete or doubles team in each age group not yet qualified will receive an offer. If that recipient declines, the slot will not roll down to the next finisher. This change aims to manage venue capacity and maintain high competition standards. A new system for the 2026/27 season is currently in development. The trend of multi-race weekends reached new heights this week. While some athletes like Anita Bye in Bangkok competed in four separate race categories, others took it international. Martin Lecorgne competed in ELITE 15 DOUBLES in London before flying to Toulouse for a PRO singles race. Additionally, Sara Gandola, Tanja Stroschneider, and Emmy Li all managed to compete in both Bangkok and Beijing over the same weekend. |
