City Guide: Lisboa +
Expected weather in May: 12-21°C (54-70°F), 65-80% humidity
Welcome to Lisboa, Portugal's sun-drenched capital, a city where historic charm meets modern energy. Perched on seven hills overlooking the Tagus River, Lisboa offers a captivating blend of tiled facades, Fado music echoing through ancient alleys, and breathtaking viewpoints. For athletes heading to HYROX Lisboa 2026, the city provides an array of experiences beyond the competition.
Accommodation is plentiful, with areas like Baixa, Chiado, and Alfama offering central locations and easy access to transport. Consider staying near the event venue for convenience, though many parts of the city are well-connected. When hunger strikes, indulge in Lisboa's renowned culinary scene. Don't miss tasting a 'Pastel de Nata' (custard tart) from a local bakery, savoring fresh seafood in the Time Out Market Lisboa, or enjoying traditional Portuguese dishes like 'Bacalhau à Brás' (codfish with eggs and potatoes) in a local 'tasca'.
Navigating Lisboa is straightforward thanks to its efficient public transport system, including trams (especially the iconic Tram 28), buses, and the metro. Consider purchasing a Viva Viagem card for easy travel. The local currency is the Euro (€), and while Portuguese is the official language, English is widely spoken in tourist areas. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; a small amount for good service is customary. Lisboa is generally a safe city, but like any major urban center, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions against petty theft, especially in crowded tourist spots.

What your training plan covers
A HYROX race demands more than just running or lifting. Our training plans balance three types of work so you arrive race-ready for every lap and every station.
Pure Running
Running makes up more than 50% of a HYROX race. We build your aerobic base and pacing strategy so you can hold a strong pace across all 8 km of running.
Functional Station Training
Targeted strength and conditioning for the 8 HYROX stations. Sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, and SkiErg.
Compromised Running
The true separator in HYROX. We program running intervals on fatigued legs to simulate the demands of running immediately after completing a station.
"I was skeptical about another fitness app, but TrainRox is different. It's built specifically for HYROX, not adapted from generic CrossFit templates."
